State agency Bord Bia last year paid more than €135,000 for “food costs” to a catering company directed by under-fire chairman Larry Murrin and owned by his wife.
Sinn Féin leader Mary Lou McDonald today called for Murrin to resign over reports that his company Dawn Farm Foods uses imported Brazilian beef.
Then Fianna Fáil agriculture minister Charlie McConalogue appointed Murrin chair of the food promotion agency in 2024.
Murrin has been a director of Banqueting Food Systems Ltd since 2004 and his wife Nora Murrin owns 92 percent of its shares, according to Companies Registration Office records.
Bord Bia paid the company €135,567.26 for “food costs” in 2025, according to records seen by The Ditch. There is no suggestion of any wrongdoing on the part of the Murrins or their company.
Bord Bia has been contacted for comment.
