NAMA chief Brendan McDonagh’s north Dublin home – which The Ditch revealed yesterday was registered under the alias PB McDonnacha – is being advertised to rent on a short-term letting site for more than €10,000 a week.
McDonagh was set to be appointed government’s new housing tsar but told housing minister James Browne he was no longer interested in the role hours after being asked why he used two aliases in his property transactions.
The four-bedroom Cabra home is available in May and June but not in July. It can be booked for a week next Wednesday for €10,226.
The Ditch enquired about reserving McDonagh’s home for 150 nights – from August to December – on the website Vrbo and was quoted a price of €210,000 but advised to contact the host to confirm the booking.
The website includes 19 photos of McDonagh’s redbrick property, which is described as a “sanctuary of luxury”. The NAMA boss paid €595,000 in 2014 for the house, which has been extensively upgraded over the past decade.
His proposed €430,000 a year role would have seen him responsible for speeding up the delivery of new housing.
McDonagh has been contacted for comment.
