An Bord Pleanála’s (ABP) director of planning assigned herself a planning appeal in her own neighbourhood. Celebrity architect Dermot Bannon represented the applicants, who were ultimately successful in having restrictions on their proposed extension overturned.

The Bord Pleanála (ABP) director of planning signed off on three major housing developments brought by her husband’s clients. One of the developments is located just 500 metres from her north Dublin home.

The Bord Pleanála (ABP) board told an inspector to delete sections of her report that would have required a property developer to significantly alter its plans for a south Dublin apartment development.

An Bord Pleanála (ABP) deputy chairperson Paul Hyde was nominated to the board by an organisation that didn’t legally exist. The news raises questions as to whether Hyde was ever legally appointed to the board.

Housing minister Darragh O’Brien has refused to comment on the appointment of an ex-Fianna Fáil minister’s sister-in-law to the board of An Bord Pleanála (ABP).
